Crossroads Sunday: HOME
Posted by: in Group Blogs |We're home!
It was a great travelling day, beginning by leaving the dorm at 4:55 a.m.--a whole 5 minutes EARLY!
Crossroads Saturday
Posted by: in Group Blogs |Today was our first day of actual relaxation. Although the bumpy van ride was anything but (just ask the passengers in the back row)...
We were able to see La Bufadora, about 2 hours southwest of here. It's a beautiful area along the Pacific coast. We shopped along the "tourist strip", practically getting attacked by the vendors there. Most of us agreed that shopping in Tijuana is more fun & really offers a view of what life is really like in Mexico. If someone only spent time on the coast (where we were today) all you really see is the tourist area & doesn't show you the real flavor of this country at all.
CWC's Thursday & Friday
Posted by: in Group Blogs |It's been another whirlwind 2 days. The internet & phone lines were down yesterday until just awhile ago, so no post yesterday.
The dormitory roof is BEAUTIFUL. It is on, the guys are doing finishing touches on the gutters. We were up on the mountainside re-roofing a house for Delores & Lenny's family & could see the bright white steel roof from up above. The guys got many blisters from their work over the last two days.
Crossroads Wednesday
Posted by: in Group Blogs |We've had an amazing couple of days. We've done so much it's almost hard to put it into words. I can't go into detail since my computer time doesn't really permit it tonight, but we'll share all the details later.
Yesterday the women in our group were able to shop for Maria's family & for Rebecca's family. We had a great time finding their necessities & also finding gifts for the children. Going to their homes delivering the goods was memorable. Very emotional. Seeing their neighborhoods has been very eye-opening for those of us (me) who have lived sheltered lives.
Crossroads Wesleyan Monday
Posted by: in Group Blogs |Hello friends & family!
We arrived safe & sound Sunday afternoon after an uneventful drive (we saw SO many cars in the ditch from the snow & even followed a police "pace" car for several miles) to Denver, flight to San Diego & ride across the border into Tijuana.
Space Bags
Posted by: in Group Blogs |Space Bags (the vacuum the air out kind) are our friends as we pack this week for our upcoming trip to Mexico Caravan Ministries.
An 13-member team from Imperial, Nebraska, will arrive in Tijuana on Sunday. We're looking forward to our time there, meeting the people & working on a shelter as well as the dormitory roof.
