CWC's Thursday & Friday
Posted by: in Group Blogs
It's been another whirlwind 2 days. The internet & phone lines were down yesterday until just awhile ago, so no post yesterday.
The dormitory roof is BEAUTIFUL. It is on, the guys are doing finishing touches on the gutters. We were up on the mountainside re-roofing a house for Delores & Lenny's family & could see the bright white steel roof from up above. The guys got many blisters from their work over the last two days.
Yesterday while the guys worked here, the Ron, a couple of staff members & the gals were able to participate in Spectrum's bath house. The ministry goes to the poorest neighborhoods in Tijuana to minister to the children in different ways. We helped wash kids hair, wash feet & give haircuts. It was a very moving experience. I will never forget some of the sweet faces I saw & how grateful they were for the beautiful barrettes & hair clips. Next trip: bring LOTS of cute hair things for the little girls!
We'll get showers tonight-they'll be much welcomed.
Tomorrow we travel 2 hours south to La Bufadora & pack up to head home. We'll leave for the border about 4 a.m. Sunday. Although we're taking advantage of all the experiences here, we're also missing our families & friends at home.
We've heard from different speakers each day-information overload in a good way. It's been very convicting. Some of the words we used to describe our experience so far were
convicting
broken
eye-opening
humbling
desperate
thankful
never-ending
loving.
Our challenge from Eddie today is "So What?" What are we going to do now? How are we going to be different because of what we've learned here? How have our eyes been opened to what the Bible says about missions? What are we going to change as a result of what we've seen?
One thing many of us have said we'll do before our next trip: learn more espanol. What a frustrating thing to not be able to have a simple conversation with some very interesting people. The people here are so patient with those of us who can't speak a lick of Spanish. They wait patiently as we look words up in our dictionaries or as we find someone to translate for us.
Thank you for your prayers this week. God has been very close this week & is speaking straight to our hearts.
Blessings,
Crossroads Team
