Crossroads Saturday

Today was our first day of actual relaxation. Although the bumpy van ride was anything but (just ask the passengers in the back row)...
We were able to see La Bufadora, about 2 hours southwest of here. It's a beautiful area along the Pacific coast. We shopped along the "tourist strip", practically getting attacked by the vendors there. Most of us agreed that shopping in Tijuana is more fun & really offers a view of what life is really like in Mexico. If someone only spent time on the coast (where we were today) all you really see is the tourist area & doesn't show you the real flavor of this country at all.
After shopping & lunch we backtracked a bit to the beach. The waves were quite big & no one actually swam, but most of us did end up with our feet in the water. It was rather chilly. The Baja 1000 was finishing nearby so we saw some of the off-road vehicles also. We collected sea shells & enjoyed seeing the ocean. Back at the dorm we ate the BEST & BIGGEST pizzas ever.
We're packed up ready to leave the dorm tomorrow morning at 5:00 a.m. Hopefully we'll miss "rush hour" at the border. Packing the suitcases to come home prove a bit more challenging, even though we're leaving quite a bit of clothing & bedding here.
It's been a great week. Lots of the experiences were not necessarily fun, but ones we wouldn't trade for anything. We've shed tears of joy & of heartache from things we've seen & heard.
We're anxious to share what we've learned with each of you. You may get tired of us talking about our time here, but we're praying that you won't want our excitement & convictions to "go away." We don't want to "get over it." We want to go home changed. We'll try to put this trip into words but somehow they'll seem inadequate.
We want you to hear us, but not just take our word for it. We want you to have an experience like this for yourself. Adults, mark your calendars for February 2011. Youth, you'll have the opportunity in June 2010 (they'll need adult sponsors as well).
Mexico Caravan Ministries is a blessing. It has opened our eyes & hearts to God's vision of "missions." It's not a calling, it's a command. We all have a choice to make about which part we'll play.
Go, Send or Disobey.
Many thanks to the staff, Eddie & Maggie for a memorable week. We'll be praying for God to reveal your future role in missions.
Blessings,
Crossroads Team
